Review/First Impression: Revlon Lash Potion Mascara

I came across this the other day while I was looking at other makeup, and I realised I hadn’t heard anything about it yet from the various bloggers and Youtubers I follow, which is really unusual for a new product, which made me curious, so I picked up a tube in Blackest Black (also available in Black and Black Brown) for $10.

A little Googling when I got home found some reviews as far back as April, so this was probably released a few months ago in the US, which makes it even odder that I haven’t heard anything about it.

Anyway, the packaging alone was enough to draw me in: so many pretty shiny colours! Also, it claims to be lengthening, volumizing, waterproof, and to strengthen and grow your lashes… which is a lot of claims for a single mascara to make.

The brush is pretty cool; it’s a good size, not massive like Essence or the original UD Big Fatty brush, but not super skinny, either, which I really can’t stand. It has regular brush bristles, some of which are shorter, and some longer, which is apparently supposed to help pack on the volume while getting rid of clumps.

I think the formula is pretty nice, as far as I’ve tried so far. I’ve only worn it once, but it’s stayed on all day long, and it was a pretty warm day. I didn’t notice any flaking or smudging, so I’m pretty happy. It also isn’t too wet of a formula, which I really dislike, but it isn’t dried out either. It’s like a happy middle-ground, in my opinion.

Here’s a glimpse at how it works for me. Me with no mascara:

One coat:

It gives my lashes good separation and length, and no clumps, with one coat.

Two coats:

There’s a tiny bit of clumping at the ends of the lashes, but I feel like my lashes overall look well-defined, volumized, and pretty awesome in general.

As I mentioned before, I’ve only worn this the one day, so I don’t know yet if I like it as much as—or more than?!—my Maybelline Turbo Volume Express mascara, which is my current HG, but I’ll keep trying it out. Maybe we’ll see if it ends up in my favourites at the end of the month.

Be sure to let me know if you’ve tried this product, and your thoughts on it! Thanks for reading, and have an awesome day!

Tokidoki -- Sandy

As you probably know by now if you’ve been to Sephora, r/makeupaddiction, or many makeup blogs in the past couple of weeks, Tokidoki is leaving Sephora, and so there’s been a big sale on. The amazing glitter polishes were down to $4 (from $12, I believe), and though I’d never tried them, I had to have this one! (So, just like the OPI, this was a bit of an impulse buy. But I’m going to be good now until Seattle!)

This is Sandy, which is a really boring name for this polish, which features gold mini glitter, gold bar glitter, and blue holographic bar glitter. Love!! Here it is:

And it came with a couple nail stickers:

As a glitter gradient over OPI German-icure:

Two coats, plus one coat Sephora by OP topcoat, and one coat Seche Vite. This is a fantastically dense polish:

Did you pick up any of the sale Tokidoki products from Sephora? Let me know.

Thanks for reading! =)

German-icure from the OPI German Collection

I’m absolutely in love with this colour!! I know I’m not supposed to be spending money right now, but I absolutely fell in love, and it was $9.50. I figured I could spare it. What I didn’t know, and felt silly for not knowing, was that the Germany collection, which it’s from is a new one from OPI, but I found out when the cashier had a hard time scanning it since they had just got the colour that morning, and the barcode wasn’t in the computer yet! Haha!

I’ve painted my nails with this twice in a row, which is something I almost never do, so you can see how much I love it. It’s such a wonderful deep deep red colour. I couldn’t figure out at first what made this look so different, but with the first coat I realized it’s because this polish has more of a dark brown base colour. This is also really obvious on the cotton pad when you take it off; it’s kind of weird! Anyways, here it is on my nails. This is two coats under a coat of Seche Vite.

Another Mini-haul (or in other words: I shop too much!)

So I was at the mall earlier because Brit had said that Sephora was having some special Nars event, and they were doing mini makeovers, and if you bought two products, there was some kind of gift bag. However, Nars is expensive, and the gift bag was just a few deluxe samples, and they were all different. So we didn’t buy anything, but we got our makeup done, and the artist who did mine commented on my Ravenclaw necklace, and then I remembered she was the one who had also noticed my Gallifrey shirt a couple weeks ago, so we talked about Doctor Who for a while, which was pretty cool. =)

Anyways, then Brit and I walked around the mall a bit, and I found a couple of polishes at Icing, which I haven’t been to in a long time, and their polishes have gotten so much more interesting! I fell in love with about 10 different glitters, but I picked two (since it was a buy one get one 50% off deal). I got:

Radio Super Star, which, as you can see is blue mini glitter, pink hex, and big silver stars! So cute!100_0947

And I also got What Planet Are You On?, which is this gorgeous neon green full of glitter, which gives is a really cool quality and depth!

Here’s swatches of these two polishes. I think you can tell which is which:

Icing also has this glitter nail polish remover thing, which is a little tub I’m guessing is full of polish remover, and has a brush inside that is supposed to help scrub off glitter, but I decided I wasn’t allowed three things, though its a great idea if it would work…

Then, in The Body Shop, another place I haven’t shopped in a while, I picked up a couple things from the Chocomania line, which were on 2 for $10. I got the lip butter, which smells exactly like chocolate icing:

And a small (50ml) pot of the body butter, which smells exactly like the lip butter:

And here’s everything I purchased today all together:

Also, in the mail today, I finally got the stamper and scraper I ordered from eBay so I could use the stamping plate I won, what, a couple months ago?

It took a really long time… Also, I am currently pretty bad at this, here are my first attempts:

Haul from a week and a half ago:

I took all these pictures but forgot to post them. I spent so much money that day I felt I should share my acquisitions with everyone! =) So, here they are:

100_0717

I got:

  1. A neon green hoodie from Urban Behaviour for $15
  2. Lindor White chocolates from Sears for $6
  3. My best friend and I got 2 of the grab bags from Ardene, so $2.50 each. These are a bit of a nostalgic tradition for the two of us, since we used to get them when we had next to no money, just so we could get something! They’re super fun, too, because you never know what you’ll get, but there’s usually at least one thing you really like. This is probably why I love Glymm boxes so much! Inside mine I got:
    • matching necklace and earrings
    • dangly gold earrings
    • star fabric headband
    • red heart plastic headband
    • diamond bobby pins
    • shimmery pink nail polish
  4. An Ultra Ball (Pokémon) from Toys’R’Us Express for less than $2. This was a complete impulse buy. Basically, I saw these and decided I couldn’t live without my very own Pokeball. I regret nothing.
  5. A lime green tin and 50 grams of tea from David’sTea; I got the Earl’s Garden, which is basically Earl Grey with strawberries, and is soooo good! I also got a hot tea, so my total was about $12
  6. And finally, I got a Sephora Mineral powder foundation, since I was looking for a new powder to replace my Almay one I mentioned getting not too long ago. I’ve almost used it up, plus I don’t think it likes my skin, so I decided to try something a little pricier. I almost got one from Mac, which was pretty nice, but $33. This one was only $26 and the same size. It has pretty nice coverage, comes with a mirror and an applicator sponge, and I got my Sephora points for buying it, so it seemed like the better deal to me! I’m pretty happy with it so far. I like the amount of coverage it provides!
They also gave me a sample of (I think) an anti-aging moisturizer.

So that’s everything. If you ignore that I also had to get dinner and then bought a Frappuccino from Starbucks, I spent about $65. And I’m completely in love with that hoodie…!

Have you bought anything you’ve been loving recently? Let me know!

Impulse Buy: Michael Kors Very Hollywood Roller Ball Duo

The other day my best friend wanted to check out the Michael Kors store in Pacific Centre Mall (which is apparently the largest MK store in BC), because of this red bag she fell in love with online. Turns out they don’t sell it in Canada, but then we started looking at wallets and perfumes. There’s a wallet there that’s about $150 that I am absolutely in love with, and will try to convince myself not to buy, but if I still want it, and it’s still there in December, it might be a Christmas gift to myself…

But, anyways, that isn’t what this post is about. This post is about the perfume/lip gloss duo I bought on impulse, basically just because it was only $22 and smelled really good. Also, the lip gloss side is really nice. It’s neutral, smells great, and isn’t sticky at all. This is like a really good quality version of the roller ball duo I had with Britney Spears Curious perfume in grade 10!
