July 2012 Glymm box!

Hello everyone! Just an update before I get to my box: you may or may not have noticed that the deadline on the poll for the giveaway prize keeps getting longer, and that’s because, first of all, I want to make sure that everyone who wants to votes, and secondly, I just don’t have money right now, so I figured it would be better to wait a while and get a better prize, rather than get a very small prize for you right away. Because of this, I will probably wait until the end of August to purchase the prizes and post the giveaway. However, I’m so grateful for all of you, my lovely readers, and am so happy that I have received another 2 followers in the past week or so. Thank you all so much! =)

Now on to the box/bag… thing:

100_1304All wrapped up

100_1305This month’s bag: orange! This is what I was expecting because Glymm has orange, blue and pink in their store, and we already got the other two. I don’t like this colour, but my sister was more than happy to take it off my hands!

100_1310A quick peek inside

100_1312This month’s little special coupon, since there’s one pretty much every month, was a 25% off code for nail polish in the Glymm store. I probably won’t use this because a) Butter London  and RGB polishes are very expensive, and b) you can’t use the coupon with your points. Boooo!!

Mereadesso Beautiful Body Balm:

100_1308

Full size: 200 ml for $54.00
Sample size: 30 ml
Approx. sample value: $8.10

So, I’m not sure why this cream is so expensive. I’ll admit that it is moisturizing, and it soaks in fairly quickly. It also smells a bit like lemons, or maybe lemon meringue pie. However, I don’t think I’d ever spend $54 on a body lotion! I don’t have anything bad to say about this, but I also don’t have anything great to say; this is just sort of a “meh” product, and although it adds $8 to the value of the box, I don’t think it was a great addition. I would have preferred makeup!

Mane Teeze Social Butterfly Hair Perfume:

Full size: 50 ml for $34.00
Sample size: 8 ml
Approx. sample value: $5.44

Hair perfume? Weird right? I’m not sure why this is a thing, but apparently it is. I’m also not sure this is really anything special, and there are probably some people who wouldn’t like this, but I actually quite like it. It smells very sweet and summery, like pina colada and vanilla. I will definitely use this, but I’m sure I’d never buy it.

Joico K-Pak Revitaluxe:

100_1314

Full size: 150 ml for $25.00
Sample size: 50 ml
Approx. sample value: $8.33

This is probably one of the products I’m happiest about in this month’s box, even though it is a hair product. This is a deep conditioning treatment that you leave on your hair 3-5 minutes before rinsing out, but the best part is that this is a real sized sample, not some stupid foil package! Also, Joico is a pretty well known salon brand, so I’m excited to try this out.

Cyberderm H2O Hydration and PM Anti-Age:

100_1318

Full size: 50 ml for $60.00 (for H2O Hydration) & 50 ml for $115.00 (for PM Anti-Age)
Sample size: 5 ml each
Approx. Sample value: $17.50

Finally, there were these two syringes full of moisturizer. I’m a little disappointed with this, because I was excited when I was thinking they were sunscreen… I mean, The Sunscreen Company didn’t send sunscreen? This makes no sense to me. I' don’t care about getting anti-aging products, so this is really boring to me, though I’ll admit the packaging is cute. Also, the size of them wasn’t on the packaging, but these are proper medical syringes, and by peeling back the label you can see that they are full to the 5 ml line. Anyways, I’ll use these, but I’m not particularly happy or excited about them. And I’m guessing Glymm counts these as two separate products, but I count them as one.

Total Approx. Value: $39.37

While the price looks good—I mean it’s almost valued at three times the cost, if you’re paying $12 a month (and I’m only paying $10 still)—I’m not actually impressed with this month’s products. There are three moisturizers and two hair products, while I buy this box for makeup and the occasional nail polish… so needless to say, I’m pretty disappointed. Even the makeup bag won’t be of any use for me, though as I mentioned, my sister is enjoying it. There isn’t anything in this bag I won’t use, except for the coupon code, but none of it is anything special. Disappointingly, the hair products are my favourite things in the box,, but even they aren’t that great. The hair perfume is way too expensive for what it is, when I could use a body spray or regular perfume for the same thing, and a conditioner is a conditioner as far as I’m concerned. I hope they do better next month. I would love to see some makeup products, and not just one (or none like this month)!

Did you get this month’s Glymm? What did you think? Have you ever tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments!

  1. That's too bad, I really like the scent, but I can see how it might be too strong or sweet for some people.

  2. This was my last Glymm bag and it really didn't make me regret cancelling! I joined Glymm in the hopes of getting a polish or makeup item other than lip products but it all seems to be skin and hair products that don't match my hair or skin type. I do find the hair perfume nice scent-wise, but I would never buy it. Apparently the next two bags will have Mane Teeze's other scents in them.

    1. Ugh, I'll be really disappointed if there aren't better things in the next two bags than more hair perfume. That might cause my change from Glymm box to Glossy Box, which I've been wanting to test out for ages...

    2. I would try GlossyBox. The products are great but the shipping time is horrible!

  3. Well, I am not sure if it will be themed though, since I was thinking the same thing in December but the closest thing I got was the red and white jellybeans from Glymm. It will be fun if they did do a theme though!
