LOOKBOOK || 6 Ways to Wear Wet-Look Leggings

Hey guys! Here's a different type of video for you today! I had to figure out some videos to film that didn't require me to put on makeup, and a lookbook seemed fun. Thankfully the weather actually cooperated! I decided to do my first lookbook on ways to style wetlook leggings, because there are so many things you can do with them, and they are definitely one of my favourite pieces of clothings that I own! The ones I'm wearing in all the outfits are my BlackMilk Wet Look Leggings. And no, this isn't sponsored, but I sure wish it was! =P

Let me know if you like this video, I love how it came out, so I would be happy to do more if you like them! And leave me any suggestions for future lookbooks, if you have any.

HAUL || Killstar Clothing, New Camera & Accessories, and Random Beauty Products!

Hi guys! I have a bunch of awesome new things to share with you in today's video. First, I bought a few things from KillStar -- a gothy online clothing store. Then I talk a little about my new camera, and things I bought to go with it, as well as a new game. Then I finish up with a couple of new beauty products I picked up.

I bounce around and hit a few different categories in this one, but hopefully at least some of it is interesting to you. As always, thanks for watching and supporting!

Review || Sole Patches Adhesive Shoe Pads

Hey Guys!

6 Sole Patches

Today I have a quick review for you of these little adhesive shoe insert pads called Sole Patches, thanks to Brandbacker. I was sent a pack of Sole Patches in exchange for a review, but of course, the reviews on this blog are always completely honest and my own.

Sole Patches

I recieved these in a pack of 6 (so 3 pairs), and they are little flower-shaped adhesive pads that you stick to either the inside of your less-comfy shoes (like many other brands), or alternatively, you can stick these right to your feet where you know your shows cause you pain, so you know they'll be in the right place. This is what originally interested me in this product, since I hadn't heard of a pad that sticks right to your foot before. Of course, if you use them this way, they're basically one use, but Sole Patches claims the medical grade adhesive will stick for skin for up to 24 hours, which is pretty reassuring if they work for you.

Sole Patches Back

As it describes on Brandbacker: "The cushioning is made of Poron by Rogers Corporation, a special material that's shock-absorbing, antimicrobial, anti-odor, and has moisture-repelling properties," so if you are using these more long-term by sticking them right into your shoes, you don't need to work too much about weird smells or bacteria growing on the insert.

Sole Patches Box Side
Sole Patches on foot

Since I found it the most interesting, I tested these first right on my feet. You'll want to make sure feet are clean and dry before application, to make sure they stick well and stay on. They can go on your heel or the ball of the foot, wherever your shoes cause pain. I went for the balls of my feet, since that's where heeled shoes are most likely to hurt me. They're pretty comfortable on, and manage to stick to the curved surface of my feet pretty well, which I was somewhat worried about. For science, I also peeled one back off to see if you've completely fucked up if you place them wrong the first time... While it's best to get it right the first time, on second try, the adhesive did still stick nearly as well. The third try was less optimal, but again still sticky. I wouldn't push them further than that, though!

After trying them centred on the ball of my foot as well as centred across the front, I found that the shape and size of these could be better, but over the ball (to one side) was more comfortable to me. In the centre, I felt like my foot bent funny, and I could feel my feet pinching around the edges on both sides, where there was no pad under my foot. Under the ball is still slightly awkward, though, as it doesn't fully cushion your foot, and it's weird to have your toes sitting about half a centimetre lower to the ground. Do-able, though, I'd say.

I would mostly only recommend using these directly on your skin, though, if you find that inserts never sit in the right place to cushion your foot, otherwise, it will be much more cost effective to apply these to the insides of uncomfortable shoes, since they won't be one-wear that way. I also like that doing it this way means the pad can sit far enough forward to be under the toes and ball of the foot, though I still wish the pad was wider to sit under the whole front of my foot.

If you are interested in trying these for yourself, you can find them at SolePatches.com for $9.95 (I'm guessing in USD) for a pack of 6 pads. Unfortunately, it looks like International shipping, including to Canada, is $20 USD... so unless you're buying a few packs, I'm not sure they're worth buying online unless they sound amazing to you, or you live in the states.

Let me know if you've tried Sole Patches before and what you thought, as well as what your favourite brand of shoe inserts is for uncomfortable shoes!

Ten Things on My Christmas Wish List || 2016

Hey guys, just a fun post today to share with you some of the things I would love to receive this Christmas! I realise it's more than a month away, but I figure this post could also be used as inspiration for your own Christmas lists of as gift inspiration for someone you know! So, without further ado, let's get into it.

1. Pizza John Popsocket -- $12 USD

This one is really recent, and only available until November 18, when Pizzamas ends. If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, you must not watch the Vlogbrothers, who are two of YouTube's biggest treasures, if you ask me! Pizzamas happens once a year in November for two weeks, and it's when John and Hank Green post a video every week day for two weeks, and at the same time, they sell a variety of Pizza John merchandise on their online store, DFTBA records. It's fun, and the original Pizza John design goes way back to 2009 from fanart made after John posted a video of him shaving his Movember beard. It's silly but it's pretty great.

Thus far, I don't own any Pizza John things, but for some reason this popsocket thing, which is a little collapsible device that sticks on to your phone and acts as a handle and phone stand, really appeals to me. And with shipping, it would cost about $20 CAD.

2. Moccasins from Manitobah Mukluks in Stone (Gray)-- $129.99 CAD

Especially in the Stone colour, I just love the way these look. There are two kinds, the leather and the suede, but they're both gorgeous. My friend has a pair I've tried and they're really comfortable, and I love the fringe on them! These ones aren't lined at all, so they can be worn even if it isn't cold, which I also like, since I overheat so easily. I don't know what else to say about them, except that it's really cool that the brand that makes these ones is Canadian, indigenous owned, and supports indigenous communities.

3. Urban Decay All-Nighter Foundation in .05 -- $49 CAD

I hate the way they've numbered these colours... I'm only half a colour...?! This seems offensive in some way... but anyways. I've swatched this foundation in store a few times, and the coverage is SO GOOD! It looks so natural and light on the skin, but provides great, beautiful coverage. It also doesn't feel cakey and thick like the Kat Von D, so I really want to give this stuff a go on my face. I'm sure I'd love it!

4. Foreo Luna Mini -- $119 CAD

No, I didn't specify the Mini 2, because I don't care which one, and since it's $40 cheaper, I'd happily take the original! I've tried face brushes before, though never the Clarisonic, and I feel they're just too harsh on my face, but this tool, with it's little silicone nubs intrigues me in a few ways. First, it's silicone, so it doesn't hold on to dirt and bacteria the same way a brush can, so it stays cleaner and better for your face. It's also much gentler feeling, the battery lasts ages, and it's super portable.

5. Gift Certificate to BodyArtForms.com

I mean, I'm not going to expect other people to pick the right gage and size and jewellery for me, since most people I know don't have any frm of body piercings. Besides, I have a big wish list of pieces I want for my septum, from simple hoops to fancier, showier clickers. If for some reason you'd like to see my current wish list on BAF, you can find that here.

6. My Gandalf rune tattoo -- ~$100 CAD

Gandalf Rune Tattoo Idea

This seems like a weird thing to ask for as a gift, but essentially I'm just asking for ~$100 bucks to go and get my first tattoo done! Probably more like $115, since my tattoo will be small and quick, and $100 is the minimum charge, and I'd want to tip the artist. The above picture is essentially concept art, since I drew the rune on my shoulder in sharpie, which is pretty much how I have been playing with tattoo ideas for the last year or so. I want this rune because it is the symbol Gandalf uses in the Lord of the Rings to end his letters; this rune is essentially his signature. Basically, the rune is just a Cirth rune for "G", along with four dots around it.

Now why do I want to tattoo Gandalf's signature on my shoulder for all of time? Well, there are several things I love about this tattoo. 1. It's simple and iconic. 2. I love that you kinda need to know what it is to know what it is... if you get what I mean. It doesn't scream Tolkien or Lord of the Rings to a non-nerd, but a Tolkien fan would likely at least recognize it. 3. It's small, and should be a fairly easy first tattoo. Eventually I want a Dumbledore quote, probably on my leg, but that would be much longer and I'd love to know the pain I'll be signing myself up for before I jump into a longer quote. 4. Gandalf is one of my favourite characters of all time. He's good, wise, smart, caring, interesting, and ancient. And he has some of the very best quotes. Tolkien is my all-time favourite author. His work means a lot to me, Gandalf means a lot to me, and I'd love to etch a symbol of my love for those two on my skin for all to see.

7. Black Low-heeled Ankle Booties with an Exposed Zip -- ~$75 CAD

I know, that's really really specific... But I know what I want, alright?! I've actually found a pair or two I really like, one of which is from Payless, but while they are $40 USD online, Canadians can't order from that site, and the ones sold in Canadian stores are actually more like $70, if I'm remembering correctly. =( I do really like them in the black, though. They're pretty much exactly what I am thinking. And then these ones from Spring are also really cute, for $75 CAD.

8. Self-Titled Yellowcard Album -- $13 CAD

Not much to say here. One of the best bands, their last CD ever... They aren't touring to Vancouver, so I'll have to make due with buying the last CD to show my love.

9. Bootie Slippers -- $25 CAD

I'm not too picky, but this is a good example of the type of slippers I'd like. They're just so much cuter and more practical, in my opinion, than slide on slippers. I just feel like they'd stay on the foot better, so you wouldn't need to take them off to curl up and read, and then need to remember to put them back on to wander your house. Plus I think bootie slippers are really cute with PJ shorts. These ones from La Senza are pretty well-priced at $25 and felt really nice when I poked them in-store.

10. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Collector's Edition set -- $300 CAD

Oh my god. This is beautiful. The packaging. The colours. In some ways, even the price (at $24 a pop, 15 should cost $360, so you get 2 and a half for free)! This beautiful set comes with 15 full-size KVD liquid lipsticks, some of my favourite lip products, including 2 exclusive shades. Ugh, it's gorgeous, the colours are so varied and beautiful, and some part of me says my desire for this set is entirely irrational, but I wants it!

Also, if that's just too insane for your, but you love KVD Liquid Lipsticks, there's a smaller set of minis for $62, which is also a nice deal. You get 8 shades at less than the price of 3 full-size, and each mini is almost exactly half the size of a full-size.

Can you tell I'm into shoes right now? Haha! Let me know what's on your Christmas Wish List, or just your regular wish list right now in the comments!

5 Reasons Why Vans Slip-Ons are the Best Shoes!

Hey guys! Today I have a slightly different, just for fun post for you about my favourite shoes of all time! Don't worry, this wasn't sponsored by Vans, though I wish it was... These shoes are just the best. I'm currently on my third pair; I've been wearing the same style for years, but I'd love some more! (If anyone knows anyone in Vans PR, could you let them know I'm totally down for a sponsorship? haha! =D)

Anyways, here are my 5 reasons Vans are the all-time best shoes!

1. They're easy to put on and take off!

Late? Shopping and need to take your shoes off to try on pants/dresses/new shoes? Going somewhere else you'll need to remove your shoes? These slide on and off, hands-free, quick and painless! No laces to tie or buckles to buckle!

1

2. They're super comfy!

They're flat! No stupid heels or platforms to trip on, just a little rubber to protect your feet from the ground. And they're squishy inside for added comfy-factor! I have wide feet, too, but these never feel tight or restrictive!

2

3. They're available in a huge range of colours & patterns!

You can get Vans to go with just about anything. Black ones will work with so much, the classic checker print is fun and a little punky, and then there are fun colours for spring & summer, or really anytime. Or get white ones, and if you're feeling creative you can customize them to your heart's content! (I buy mine from Zelen online, or their store in Downtown vancouver, but they're available tons of places! Check out Vans' site to see what I mean about selection!)

3

4. They're Fairly inexpensive!

They seem to range from $55 CAD for classic prints to $75 CAD for things with licensed characters. And $60 for a pair of shoes you can wear every damn day?! That seems pretty good to me, especially considering they last a good couple years of frequent wear! (I like to buy mine from Zelen shoes online or at their Downtown Vancouver store. For americans, you can get them at Zappos.com, among others!)

4

5. They're classic!

These are a great shoe to fall in love with because they aren't going out of style any time soon. Vans started making this style in 1979... this style is almost 40 years old!! If that doesn't scream classic, I'm not sure what does!

***

I love these shoes, and live in them as often as I can. I wish it were socially acceptable to wear these babies to interviews, formal occasions, and more jobs. They're the best, and I wish I had a pair for everyday of the week! As I said at the top of this post, I've had 3 pairs so far, and I will surely keep buying them forever!

Let me know what your favourite shoes are! Do you understand my love of Vans?

Thanks for reading!

|| My Christmas 2014 Present Haul! ||

I like to do these posts every year as much for my own memory and records, as to be a fun post for you guys. I'm not trying to brag; I honestly think some of you will wonder why I'm so happy with some of my presents this year as I am, but I'm really quite happy with the gifts I was given. I'm so thankful to my wonderful family and friends for the gifts that they gave me. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas as well!

I'm going to do this in two sections: from my family and from my boyfriend. My boyfriend likes to buy me things, and around Christmas he likes to call most of the things he gets me Christmas presents, so his section may look pretty impressive :p... Enjoy!

***

From actual Christmas, from my family

Sorry for some of the poor quality in this section. I stupid took all these pictures with my phone, in my dark room...

Overview:

Some random stuff:

Above: some bath stuff, mini nail polish remover, tiger and flying piggy socks, a LOL necklace, toothbrush and toothpaste, a manicure set, some Simple face wipes, etc.
Below: Lint rollers, more socks, makeup bags, tiny deodorant, loofah.

Keurig/tea:

Three teas you can't see the labels on (2 Holiday Chai and 1 Decaf Pumpkin Spice from Stash), Raspberry Chocolate Truffle keurig, Kahlua keurig, Vanilla hazelnut keurig, and bailey's keurig, peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, a starbucks ornament and $10 giftcard, a $10 Subway giftcard, some Bailey's chocolates.

Snacks:

Candy cane oreos, All Nuts Pot of Gold, Walker's shortbread, gum, Ferrero's, and peppermint chocolate sticks. And a panda stuffy from Ikea. So soft!!

Clothes:

Moose pj pants with a cell phone pocket, a teal shirt, Captain America shirt, Disney princess shirt, two simple tanktops, a slouchy grey sweater, and a fleece pj set!

Books and Movies:

My favourite section! A bulldog picture book, Hobbit pt. 2 Extended edition DVD, Divergent DVD, Marvel and Bravest Warrior pins from my sister, and Tolkien's translation of Beowulf (because I'm a nerd)!

***

From David

Naked on the Run palette, JustFab boots (Alyssa), a Guess wallet, a box set of the Game of Thrones books, and a Jasmine+Orchid candle from Superstore (they have shockingly nice candles!).

There are also two things missing from this picture: a $50 Metrotown giftcard which I already spent (if you want to see what I got, check out my recent haul video), and a dress which is still in transit. This is the design the dress is based off, though I did make some style changes to it.

JustFab Review! (+Video)

Hello there! You may have already guessed because of the title, but guess what I got?

IMG_0681

Yeeeah =P… Who doesn’t love some new shoes? I’ve been wanted to try out JustFab for a long time, and honestly, I was expecting on some level to be disappointed by their shoes, but I totally wasn’t. However, before I show off the two pairs I got as my first order, I just want to tell you a little about the service in case you aren’t familiar with JustFab (If you would like to see my video review, it will be linked and embedded at the bottom of this post):

  1. Intro:
JustFab is a monthly shoe subscription service for $39.95/month.
You can skip any month for any reason just by clicking the “Skip The Month” button on your member profile, as long as you skip before the 5th of the month.
On the 6th, JustFab takes your money and gives you one credit, good for anything on the site.
  2. Shipping:
    For Americans, shipping is free.
For Canadians (I don’t know if they do international), shipping is $6.95, flat-rate. However, they do ship to Canadians from Canada, so there are no extra duty or import fees, and shipping is really fast.
  3. Returns/Exchanges:
For Americans, returns and exchanges are free.
For Canadians, returns and exchanges are $9. Not great, but not awful.
  4. Promotions:
JustFab is constantly holding sales and promotions, so sometimes it’s best to pick your moments to buy from them to get the best deal. $47 for a pair of shoes is still a pretty nice deal, but if you can get two for that price, or one more pair for only $15, why not take advantage.
Also, you can get $10 towards your next purchase for referring new people, and anyone you refer with your link get’s 50% off their first purchase.
  5. Rewards:
One thing that I forgot to mention in my video is that JustFab also has a rewards program. With every dollar you spend, you receive 25 points, plus an extra 20 points for every review you submit. So make sure to review your purchases! Starting at 2500 points you can redeem for cool add-ons like nail polishes, at 4500 points they have some fun jewellery, and at 6000 points they have some other accessories, mostly watches at the moment. I’m personally most interested in the nail polishes, because who doesn’t want free nail polish? xD

If you’re already interested and want to get 50% off your first purchase, you can use my referral code to get 50% off your first purchase. That can be one pair of shoes or multiples, so it’s a great deal. As mentioned above, I do get $10 for anyone who signs up and purchases from my link, but you also get a great deal to start off with! Here’s my link:

http://www.justfab.ca/invite/myglitteryobsessions/

And now, on to the shoes I bought:

Skye

I had one pair of sneaker wedges already, but I really wanted another pair. I loved these ones when I saw them, because I have a weird love of grey lately, and also these have really fun pink laces. The site did mention that they came with second laces but didn’t mention the colour or show them, so it was a pleasant surprise to find those pretty mint green laces in the box.

Anyways, these shoes are not only extremely cute, but they’re really comfortable as well. They have a three-inch wedge, so nothing too crazy, but still a good lift. So yeah, I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for some fun, comfy sneaker wedges. I have absolutely no complaints.
