Fall Coloured Splatter Mani

I feel like I say this a lot, but that’s because I like asking for opinions… anyways, I asked my boyfriend what I should do to my nails this time, and he suggested a fall themed splatter. I’m not sure I like how this turned out, but he does, so I’ll let y’all be the judges!

Polishes I used:

  • Base colour: Fast Track by China Glaze
  • Red: Redwood by Icing
  • Bronze: Harvest Moon by China Glaze
  • Orange: Caliente Coral by Sephora by OPI

And, as usual, Nail Envy for my base, and Seche as my topcoat

So, please let me know what you think! Do you agree with me that it looks like a bit of a mess, or with my boyfriend that it looks cool?

Abstract Slytherin Nails

Hello again! Just wanted to put up a quick post with my abstract Slytherin tape manicure! This is one of the main reasons that I bought the green polish. Because as much as I identify with Ravenclaw, Pottermore sorted me as a Slytherin!

Here’s a bunch of random designs:

The green is Revlon in Posh, and the silver is an Icing polish. On top, I used Out the Door instead of Seche. Not sure what  think of it yet… it isn’t as lovely and shiny, but seems comparable otherwise!

What do you think?

My PAX Prime 2012 Nails

I wanted to post this before going, or at least write it and have it scheduled to be up while I was away, but I was just so tired the night before leaving, and I had so much to do, that it never got done. I also apologize for the lack of clean-up, but I knew if I didn’t take the pictures right away, I’d never have time to take them.

Anyway, here are my 2012 PAX nails. Just a random assortment of logos from nerdy things I enjoy. Some of them are pretty weak, but I still like them:

Batman! Again. I found out after my last Batman nails that I do have a weird shimmery yellow polish that, if painted over white, can be a passable yellow. Also, I was lazy and less true to the logo on this nail.

Left to right: DFTBA (which means “Don’t forget to be awesome”, this is basically a nerdfighter slogan. Nerdfighters are people who watch the Vlogbrother’s videos, and a nerdy online community. If you don’t know John and Hank Green, I suggest you check out Vlogbrothers on YouTube!), the Assassin’s Creed III logo, the “X” from the PAX logo.

The series 6/7 Doctor Who logo

Togepi!

100_1471

Left to right: TF2 (Team Fortress 2) logo, a Portal 2 logo, Avengers, and Halflife!

And here are all the polishes I had to use, minus base and topcoat:

Left to right: Sephora by OPI in “A-ha! Moment,” Icing in “Metal Head,” Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in “Cherry Red,” Sephora by OPI in “Blue Grotto.”

Left to right: Jordana in “Neon Nite Lites,” Rimmel in “Black Satin,” Sephora by OPI in “Caliente Coral,” and Essie in “Power Clutch.”

Did you go to PAX? In love with any of the same nerdy things as I am? Let me know in the comments! My PAX Haul and Free Swag post will be up in a couple of days, probably after my August favourites post. Thanks for reading! =)

Neon Nails :)

Just a quick post to show you my current mani! Its nothing too special, but I’m just so in love with it that I wanted to show it off.

I’m wearing two coats of OPI Did It On ‘Em, topped off with one coat of Icing’s What Planet Are You On? which is a great neon green glitter. However, the application of the Icing polish is terrible if you try for more than one coat, which is why I opted to paint it over the OPI. I love the clear glitter in this polish, it’s almost like a flakey!

However, even just one coat of this polish is very lumpy, and I could probably used an extra coat of Seche Vite to even it out. However, I am both lazy and cheap, so I stuck with one coat.

Also, you might notice that my nails have gotten a little shorter, especially my pinky, which is because I was picking off my polish (I know… I shouldn’t…), but there was a bit of a ding in my pinky nail, and instead of polish, I ripped almost the entire tip off the nail!! I was really depressed, but I cut the rest of my nails down a bit to match. They’ll grow back though.

My (Not so) Current Nails–Glitter on Black

Hello all! Just a short post to show you my last nail look. I wore this for about four days, which is really about the longest I ever wear a nail look, since I generally paint my nails 2-3 times a week.

As usual, I used my Nail Envy as a base coat, then I think the black I used was from a random makeup store called The Face Shop. Its actually nearly opaque in one coat, which made it great for layering under my glitter. You might remember I recently bought 2 polishes from Icing, and this is two coats of Radio Super Star:

My ring and pointer fingers were really the only ones to get stars in this mani, which is a little disappointing, since there seems to be so many in the bottle. But I really love the effect of this glitter over the black polish.

It also amuses me that I almost always get one compliment on my nails at work each week, even though as a waitress I’m not supposed to be wearing nail polish =P

Thanks for reading!

Another Mini-haul (or in other words: I shop too much!)

So I was at the mall earlier because Brit had said that Sephora was having some special Nars event, and they were doing mini makeovers, and if you bought two products, there was some kind of gift bag. However, Nars is expensive, and the gift bag was just a few deluxe samples, and they were all different. So we didn’t buy anything, but we got our makeup done, and the artist who did mine commented on my Ravenclaw necklace, and then I remembered she was the one who had also noticed my Gallifrey shirt a couple weeks ago, so we talked about Doctor Who for a while, which was pretty cool. =)

Anyways, then Brit and I walked around the mall a bit, and I found a couple of polishes at Icing, which I haven’t been to in a long time, and their polishes have gotten so much more interesting! I fell in love with about 10 different glitters, but I picked two (since it was a buy one get one 50% off deal). I got:

Radio Super Star, which, as you can see is blue mini glitter, pink hex, and big silver stars! So cute!100_0947

And I also got What Planet Are You On?, which is this gorgeous neon green full of glitter, which gives is a really cool quality and depth!

Here’s swatches of these two polishes. I think you can tell which is which:

Icing also has this glitter nail polish remover thing, which is a little tub I’m guessing is full of polish remover, and has a brush inside that is supposed to help scrub off glitter, but I decided I wasn’t allowed three things, though its a great idea if it would work…

Then, in The Body Shop, another place I haven’t shopped in a while, I picked up a couple things from the Chocomania line, which were on 2 for $10. I got the lip butter, which smells exactly like chocolate icing:

And a small (50ml) pot of the body butter, which smells exactly like the lip butter:

And here’s everything I purchased today all together:

Also, in the mail today, I finally got the stamper and scraper I ordered from eBay so I could use the stamping plate I won, what, a couple months ago?

100_0957

It took a really long time… Also, I am currently pretty bad at this, here are my first attempts:
