The Great Polish Giveaway of 2014 from NailPolishCanada.com

Hello again! I hope you aren't sick of giveaways yet, because I have another one for you today. But before I get to that, I wanted to apologise for the lack of videos, my next one should be up Tuesday morning, and then I'll get back on schedule!

For now though, I wanted to share Nail Polish Canada's awesome current giveaway, which I was invited to take part in. Tons of bloggers have been invited to add a polish from the brands NPC sells to the giant giveaway,and so far the prize is up to 148 different polishes, and could get as large as 200! All of which will be awarded to one winner!

The polish I nominated was the gorgeous Essie Penny Talk that I had applied for the manicure I got for my best friend's wedding. It is a soft copper or rose gold type metallic shade, which is completely opaque in 2 coats, and I'm so in love! Here's a look at my mani:

One Direction Makeup Giveaway!

Hello again!

I was recently accepted to a campaign on BrandBacker to test out and review a new makeup collection for you guys. That makeup collection is by One Direction and Markwins, and will be available in both Canada and the US. The collection will be on sale starting August 11th at Macy’s in the US, and releasing to Stage Stores, Dillards, Beauty Brands, and Lord and Taylor stores August 25th. International release dates have not yet been set.

I haven’t yet had a chance to test out these products, as I’m still waiting for my samples, but I wanted to share a chance for one of you to maybe win one of the sets in this collection! But first, here’s a quick look at the sets that will be part of this line:

Each set comes in a cool collector's tin, and comes with a lipgloss (that glows a cool neon colour under UV lights), a 5-colour eyeshadow palette, lipstick, mascara, nail polish, an eye and body crayon, and a stencil set. Plus, all the colour names are One Direction song titles, which I think is pretty cool, and would probably be even cooler to a bigger fan of One Direction than myself =P! It also looks like there is a little diagram inside with suggestions on how to create eye looks with the colours in each set.

Konad m95 Plate Review (and Contest Alert!)

Nail Polish Canada contacted me a little while ago asking if I would like to review one of the new Konad plates that they are now carrying. I picked the m95, since it has whole-nail patterns, which I’ve been wanting to try for a while. Here’s a look at the plate:

These plates are $8.75 each at NailPolishCanada.com.

Now, before I show you my first attempt at using this plate, I want to point out a few things:

1. For stamping, you need a little rubber stamper and a scraper, as well as a plate.

2. Stamping is not as easy as it looks. It take a lot of patience and practice.

3. I am not yet very good as stamping, and far from consistent.

That said, let’s take a look at two of the patterns from this plate:

I think these are absolutely adorable, and the plates seem to be good quality. I have one that’s a cheaper imitation, and the pattern is a bit shallower, so it doesn’t always transfer very well. I think this one will be easier to use overall.

That said, I know from other blogs I’ve seen in the past, and from my own recent experience, that these full-nail designs won’t work for everyone! I don’t have very big nails, but I feel like anyone who has wider, or really long nails would be very disappointed with the results of these plates, since it may not cover your whole nail! For the record, these patterns are about 1.5 cm (~.5 in) wide and 2 cm (~.75 in) long.

Anyways, I’m pretty happy with my plate. Snow Nails (My entry for the first week of NailPolishCanada.com’s nail art contest)

In case you’re wondering, the blue is Sephora by OPI’s Blue Grotto, under a holographic topcoat that is just basecoat and a bunch of holo microglitter. Then I used a white LA Colours striper for the snowflakes.
