REVIEW || Nair Wax Ready-Strips for Legs & Body

Hi guys! Today I have a review for you on the Nair Wax Ready-Strips. These are basically strips pre-laoded with wax that you just gently pull apart and use on your legs (or wherever you want). With the warmer weather here in the northern hemisphere, most of us will be wanting to keep our legs hair-free as much as possible, so this seems like a good time to share this option! This product was sent to me for review, but all of my opinions are completely honest and my own!

nair box

So this box comes with 40 strips (divided into 2 packs of 20), as well as 4 finishing wipes and an instruction booklet.

inside box

I have pretty fine leg hair, partly because of my lighter coloured hair, and partly because I usually use an epilator to remove hair. I have also had bad experiences with wax products in the past, especially the last time, when the wax seemed to hold on a little too hard, and left little purple bruises at the base of each of my hairs, and didnt really pull many out. Needless to say, I was a little worried going into testing out this wax.

hairy leg

Luckily, these strips left my legs bruise-free! Also, they were pretty effective! The instructions suggest you can use each strip "until it no longer adheres to the skin," which is great, but I found that it only removed hair really well twice, and the second time was not as good at the first. Still, I found that 20 strips was a pretty good number to de-hair my legs, making this box good for 2 full leg waxes.

hairy strip

I feel like these could have done a better job—there were still some hairs left in random places that weren't removed—but they were really quick and easy to use! Two other problems I had with these, though, were a) they leave you a pretty big stack of waste after you're done, and b) it leaves sticky wax on random bits of your leg. Now, "b" isn't really an issue, but I feel like it's not very efficient or environmentally friendly to be creating that much waste every time you want to remove som leg hair, but I could see these being good to bring with you on vacation or something, since it's small, and there's no chance of your electric epilator to start going off in your bag!

And of course, the stickies are yuck, but once you use the finishing wipes, they're completely gone.

wipe

These wipes serve a few purposes, and though they did surprise me, I quite liked them! I was expecting more of a cooling wipe like a face wipe, but these are loaded with a good amount of a nice oil, as well as chamomile extract. So, not only do they get rid of excess wax, but they are great at soothing your angered skin and really moisturize! I used one wipe per leg, but you could easily use one wipe for both legs, there is definitely enough product in each wipe. It is delicately scented, but it didn't really bug me, just smelled nice. After wiping down my legs, I rubbed the oil in a bit more with my hands, as well, to help it absorb more quickly. It is a little greasy and it soaks in quickly but not immediately, so maybe don't get dressed right away.

Overall, I was pretty happy with these. They work well, are quick, and actually less painful than epilating. Obviously it's ripping out your hair, so it isn't painless, but it isn't bad at all. Personally, as I said above, I don't think these are a sustainable option, and I wouldn't switch from my epilator to using these exclusively, but I do think they are a good option if you need a way to remove hair on a trip.

Let me know if you've tried this product, and what you thought of it! Also, let me know your go-to hair removal method! =)

Chatty GRWM || Summery Orange & Pink Makeup!

Hey guys! Today's video is somewhere between a tutorial and a GRWM, so I've gone with the GRWM tag... anyways, I wanted to do a fun, colourful, but wearable makeup look, and this is what came out! I really love it. I used the Too Faced Sugar Pop palette that came out last year (I think), and while that is no longer available (sorry!!), you can still easily replicate these colours, all you need is a soft bright orange, a bronze, and a highlight shade, and the two recent Too Faced palettes, as well as palettes from inexpensive brands like BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents, and Morphe could easily get you these shades! Enjoy!

Hi guys! I hope you like long haul videos...!

Here's a look at all the fun products I got from this year's #LDBeauty event, which is an event London Drugs holds every year for press, bloggers, and Youtubers in the beauty world in Vancouver. At this event, they have a bunch of brands come and share stuff that is either just in stores, or else coming out over the summer.

So I thought I'd share my haul with you guys to give you a quick glance at some of the cool new products coming to the drugstore, as well as a peek into the products that I will likely be featuring in upcoming tutorials, GRWMs, and reviews either here on the blog, or in videos (which get posted here anyways)! So make sure to subscribe and follow me on my social media to find out more about my thoughts on these products!

Also, please let me know if there is anything you see here you want to know more about, and I can try to work those products into a review or tutorial as soon as possible!

REVIEW || CoverGirl Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation

Hey guys! A little while ago I was sent this Covergirl Simply Ageless foundation from BzzAgent for review, so I thought I would review it for you here today! As always, though this product was sent to me for free to review, all opinions expressed here are entirely honest and my own. So keep reading if you want to see my thoughts on this foundation!

bottle

This foundation is geared towards mature and aging skin types, and claims to plump skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, firm skin, and even out skintone. As you can see from the product, the pigmented foundation is swirled with a moisturizing cream that mixes together when you pump it out.

back of package

And yes, this product comes with a pump, so there is no awkward pouring way too much product onto your hand before applying! Yay!

pump

When you first pump it out, this product is surprisingly thick—almost mousse-like—but as soon as you start to blend it into the skin it spreads easily and blends beautifully into the skin. There is a slight scent to this product, kinda fresh and fruity, with almost a faint sunscreen scent, though this product isn't supposed to have any spf. I don't think this scent will be a problem for most people, though. I don't find it sticks around long, and simply makes applying the product rather pleasant, in my experience!

colourmatch

To be completely honest, this would not have been my first choice of all of Covergirl's foundations to review, but when I got around to choosing the type and shade I wanted, this was the only formula that still had a shade available that would be light enough to suit my skin (this is the lightest shade in the range)! And it suits me perfectly, if anything being a little paler than my current skin tone, which means it will likely match even better this winter. The tone is great, too: it's not too pink or yellow, which is great, because a more neutral shade is more likely to work for more types of skin!

I wouldn't say this foundation is matte or dewy, but it sits very naturally on the skin, somewhere in between. Maybe its satin-y? Not sure how best to describe the texture. On my oilier summer skin, this never seems to entirely absorb or set, so I like to set it with a powder for a long-lasting finish, but with the moisturizers in the product, I don't think that's unreasonable. It would probably be even more comfortable and long lasting on drier skin types because of that.

Overall, I do quite like this product, which surprised me, as I am not usually a fan of many CoverGirl products! It lasts nicely on my skin, feels good, has a pretty nice medium coverage, and is so easy to blend into the skin. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested, but even more so to people with dry skin, or more mature/aging skin, since that's really who it is designed for!

Thanks to BzzAgent for sending me this product! You can find out which Covergirl foundation might be right for you by doing their quiz!

Have you tried this—or any other—Covergirl foundations? How did you like it? Let me know in the comments!

REVIEW || Ban.do Planners -- 2017 Medium & 2016 Small

Hey guys! It's about that time of year where planner freaks buy their planners, since many start around August or September. Because of that, I wanted to share my thoughts on the Ban.do planners, which I have for 2016, as well as the new one for 2017! I also have two different sizes which I will compare for you, as I had the smaller one last year, and opted for the new Medium size this year!

I'm sure this post won't be for everyone—lots of people are happy just keeping a calendar and lists on their phones—but I have loved keeping a paper planner this past year, and look forward to continuing through next year, because it makes me personally feel far more organized with everything laid out in one place, like videos, blog posts, appointments, tasks & to-do's, and events. If you ever feel scattered, or like you have too many apps trying to hold all your stuff to do and remember, i would consider even an inexpensive or simple planner, if not one of the fun Ban.do planners I'm about to show you!

That said, let's look at the cover I picked for my planner this year! Bando has several styles for each size available on their own site (best for American buyers, most likely) or on Indigo (best for Canadian buyers!). Indigo even has some exclusive covers not sold on Ban.do's site, including the same polka-dot cover I have for 2016, if you like that one!

my 207 cover

I picked this pretty, pastel sunset gradient cover with a gold ring binding and elastic, and a shiny 2017 embossed on the cover. I'm in love, though it wasn't my first pick. I originally wanted the green marble cover, but that is an exclusive to the ban.do website (sad face!). As I said above, this is the medium size, and there is also a large and small; the large has the same ring binding, while the small is more of a traditional book-binding.

Here's a comparison of the small vs. the new medium.

size comparison frm top
size comparison

As you can see, there isn't a huge difference, which is great for me, because I loved the compactness of the small size, but really wanted the ring binding this year! The medium just has a little extra width, for the most part, which means slightly more room for planning!.

I'm not super sure what I should show you about these planners, but I took tons of pictures of my 2017 one, so I'll show some of the interior, which I think explains why I bought this brand over others! So yeah, I guess here are some features of the 2017 ban.do planners:

pocket page and girl code

A pocket! This is actually a double-sided pocket page just inside the cover, which is great! The small last year had a single pocket on the inside of the back cover, which was still great, but having a second pocket is just convenient! I like to use the pocket for important papers I need to deal with, stickers, and I've also kept concert tickets in there until the date so I couldn't lose them!

sticker page 1

Stickers! Last year's planner came with a page of stickers as well, but the 2017 actually comes with two pages of stickers! Stickers are so not necessary for planning, and I rarely use any, but it is fun to decorate a square for a special day like birthdays or events, or to use stickers to mark things like appointments, nail days, or date nights. So these are a really fun extra to get you started. Or, if you're like me: to last you all year!

sticker page 2

Inside the planner, aside from a page full of important holidays (like National Coffee Day), there's a page for you to fill out with all the important dates in your life! I've used mine to catalog friends and family birthdays, as well as my favourite holidays and milestones for my blog and YT channel!

reasons to party paged

A big reason that I chose this planner is that this brand is adorable, fun, and quirky, which is so much more "me" than many other planner brands that like to use black and white, minimalism and inspirational quotes. I love the bright, playful approach that these planners take, and one great place to see that is on the art on the month dividers! Below are the dividers for August 2016 (in the 2017 planner) and October 2016:

august month divider

october month divider

Behind that divider, every month has a full-month calendar for you to lay out your most important stuff (or use however you want), as well as two full note pages!

month layout

(Interesting, but not super important, is that the 2016 put the note pages before the month layout, and the 2017 has switched that order.) There are also even more note pages, though, at the back of the planner this year, should you need more room to write or doodle.

note pages

Finally, and most practically important, is the weekly spreads. The ban.do planners all have a horizontal layout (unlike the verticle pillar options in brands like Erin Condren), which is my personal preference. The vertical can look cool, especially decorated, but the horizontal like this makes so much more sense to me!

week layout

They're empty boxes without lines, which is great because it means you can fill that box with writing as big or small as you want, without constraint. They have also put important holidays and such in light pink in the bottom of the box on those days. This is really easy to write over, too, for a day that isn't important to you, and you need that space for yourself!

And, every now and then in the weekly spreads, you'll run across something cute and cheesy like this:

cute sayings

Who doesn't want occasional compliments from their planner?! I love it. Just like I love these planners! Aside from everything I've already said, I think they're also really good quality, with a nice sturdy cover, thick paper that doesn't show through easily, and now little laminated tabs for each month, for added durability! Yes, these are a more expensive planner. Yes, you could pay less and get something with similar week layouts for less money... But would it be as cute? No. No it would not.

For me, the cuteness of this planner is part of what makes it useable for me. I had planners before I was inconsistent using because it wasn't fun for me; it felt like a chore, and I didn't think it helped me. But now that I've found a planner I'm willing to use every day to keep track of tasks and appointments (and also my water intake!), I've found that I feel more productive and less disorganized, which is so nice!

If you're interested, as I said above, you can find Ban.Do planners as Bando.com and Chapters.Indigo.ca. I definitely recommend Indigo to Canadians, because they have free shipping over $25, which all these planners are. The prices, by the way, on Indigo: Large = $35, Medium = $32, and Small = $26.

So those are my thoughts on the Ban.do planners! Let me know if you've used these or another brand before, which one, and how you liked it!

Also let me know if you have any questions I might be able to answer for you!
